1. Who we are
SoulMates Quest offers free readings on www.soulmates.quest and is preparing a mobile app for a limited pilot. The app is not yet available in app stores.
SoulMates Quest is operated by REAL4LIFE LTD, a private limited company registered in the United Kingdom, company number 15724723, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. REAL4LIFE LTD is the controller of your personal data ("we", "us").
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.
2. How to contact us
| For | Address |
|---|---|
| General questions | hello@soulmates.quest [address being set up] |
| Privacy requests and complaints | privacy@soulmates.quest [address being set up] |
| Safety and illegal-content reports | safety@soulmates.quest [address being set up] |
We have not appointed a data protection officer. Representative in the European Union: [to be confirmed]
3. Which laws apply
In the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. In the European Union, the EU General Data Protection Regulation also applies [to be confirmed].
4. Website, no account
The free readings need no account. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
| What you do | What we receive | What we keep |
|---|---|---|
| Horoscope, Moon calendar | The sign you choose, your time zone | Nothing |
| Numbers | Your birth date, your time zone | Nothing |
| Tarot card of the day | A random identifier from your browser, your time zone | Nothing. The identifier is used only to choose your card and is not stored on our server |
| Tarot draws | The number of cards | Nothing. Your question stays in your browser |
| Abuse protection | Your IP address | A keyed one-way code made from it, for rate limits, for [period to be confirmed] |
Our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address, page and browser) to deliver and secure the website, for [period to be confirmed].
5. The friends' quiz
A member can send a friend a link to a short quiz. If you answer it, we collect your first name, your answers (including free text), your birth date if you add it, your language and when you agreed. If you are signed in, your answers are linked to your account. You must be 18 or over to answer.
- Who sees it: only the member who made the quiz, in a reading prepared for them. If you add your birth date, they see your sign and life-path number, not the date.
- We do not show your answers to anyone else and do not use them to match you with anyone.
- How long: up to 12 months after you send them, then deleted automatically, or earlier if you or the quiz creator deletes them.
- Deleting: after sending, you receive a one-time link to delete your answers. If you lose it, write to the privacy address with the quiz and the first name you used.
6. App account
- Sign-in: email and password (stored only as a one-way hash), or Google, Apple or an email link.
- Birth details: date, time (or "unknown") and place of birth, for your personal readings and to confirm you are 18 or over.
- Profile: name, short bio, gender identity, photos.
- Your answers to the app's questions, and the insights we draw from them.
- If you take part in matching: who you want to meet, age range and interests.
- Location (optional): city and approximate coordinates, only for distance limits. Your exact location is never shown to other members.
- Messages, quizzes you create, your answers to other members' quizzes, blocks and reports.
- Technical records: push token and notification settings, records of what you agreed to (with version and date), and keyed one-way codes made from IP addresses or account identifiers for rate limits.
We do not ask for your sexual orientation as a separate question, and we do not send marketing emails.
Legal bases: the contract with you (account and readings); your consent (the friends' quiz, optional location, matching); your explicit consent (information that can reveal your sexual orientation); our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, safety); and legal obligations where they apply. The exact basis for each use: [to be confirmed]
7. Sensitive information
Your gender, together with the genders you want to meet, can reveal your sexual orientation. Before we use it for matching, we will ask for your explicit consent in a separate step. Without it you can still use the readings. You can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect earlier processing. What happens to this information after withdrawal: [to be confirmed]
8. Matching
Matching is not publicly available. It is being prepared for the limited pilot. In the intended model, possible matches stay concealed, and a match opens only when both members review it and choose to accept.
To find possible matches we compare, between members who take part: age and age range, gender and who each person wants to meet, distance if either set a limit, answers to the app's questions, and details calculated from birth data. This is profiling. Members who have blocked each other are never matched.
We never show other members your email, your full birth date, time or place, your exact location, or your answers. The app will tell you what a possible match can see before you agree. If you believe an automated step affects you unfairly, write to the privacy address and a person will review it. We will carry out a data protection impact assessment before matching becomes publicly available.
9. Blocks and reports
You can block a member and report a profile or conversation in the app. A report saves what you write, a copy of the profile as you saw it, for conversations your latest messages, and for some reasons copies of the member's photos. The member is not told who reported them.
Reports and their evidence are kept for 12 months from submission, then deleted automatically, even if an account is deleted (the link to the accounts is removed). See Safety and reporting.
10. Who receives your data
Other members see only what section 8 describes. Our service providers act on our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, photo storage, sign-in service |
| Vercel | Hosting of the website and the app's server |
| Expo, with Apple and Google push services | Push notifications |
| Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple | Only if you choose them; each is a separate controller for your account with them |
| Location search service | Finding the city you type [to be confirmed] |
| Email provider | Our mailboxes [to be confirmed] |
Agreements and locations of each provider: [to be confirmed]. We may disclose data where the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
Some providers are in, or may process data in, the United States. The European Commission recognises that the UK provides adequate protection for data from the EU. Safeguards for other transfers: [to be confirmed]. You can ask the privacy address for a copy.
11. How long we keep data
| Data | Period |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, birth details, answers, preferences, photos | Until you delete the item or your account. Inactive accounts: [period to be confirmed] |
| Messages | Deleted when either member deletes their account. Otherwise: [period to be confirmed] |
| Friends' quiz answers | Up to 12 months, then deleted automatically, or earlier on deletion by the friend or the creator |
| Safety reports and their evidence | 12 months from submission, then deleted automatically |
| Security and sign-in records, hosting logs, backups, emails to us | [period to be confirmed] |
When you delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete account), we delete your profile, photos, birth details, location, answers, interests, agreements, reading history, matches and messages, and quiz answers. A shared conversation is deleted for both people. We keep:
- safety reports, without the link to your account, until 12 months after submission;
- if you signed in with Google, Apple or an email link, the sign-in record held by our authentication provider. It is not yet removed automatically when you delete your account. How it is removed: [to be confirmed]
- copies in backups: [period to be confirmed]
Details: Delete your account.
12. Your rights
You can access and get a copy of your data, correct or delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances.
In the app you can edit your profile, preferences and location, and delete your account. For a copy of your data, write to the privacy address from your account's email; there is no self-service export yet. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within one month, or tell you why we need up to two more months.
You can complain to us first, or to a regulator:
- United Kingdom: Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- European Union: the authority where you live or work. In Bulgaria: Commission for Personal Data Protection, 2 Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd, Sofia 1592, www.cpdp.bg
13. Adults only
The app and the friends' quiz are for people aged 18 or over. If you think someone under 18 is using SoulMates Quest, report it in the app or see Safety and reporting.
14. Cookies and local storage
The website sets no cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps only what the tarot features need:
| Item | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A random identifier | Keeps your card of the day the same all day; our server does not store it | Deleted after 365 days without use; you can clear it at any time |
| Today's card | Shows it again without a new request | Until local midnight |
| Your last draw and its question | Refreshing the page does not redraw | 30 days |
The site works without them. In the app, your phone stores sign-in tokens, unsent drafts and cached screens. The app contains no analytics or advertising tools.
15. Security
Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, photos are delivered through signed, expiring links, and IP addresses for abuse protection are stored only as keyed one-way codes. Further measures: [to be confirmed]
16. Changes
We will update this notice when our service or the law changes, and tell you in the app before an important change takes effect. See also our Terms of Use.
