Three of Swords
- heartache
- grief
- separation
- release
On the card
A red heart pierced by three swords hangs against a grey sky full of cloud and slanting rain.
Upright
This is the card of heartache: a loss, a parting, or words that hurt more than expected. The pain is real and deserves to be felt rather than hidden. Like rain that finally falls from a heavy sky, letting the sadness move through you is often the first step toward feeling lighter.
Reversed
The hurt may be lingering longer than it needs to, kept alive by replaying old conversations or blaming yourself. You might also be starting to heal and not quite trust it yet. Be patient with your heart, and reach for people who can hold some of the weight with you.
- Love & connection
- A disappointment or distance is asking to be acknowledged. Naming the hurt honestly, without accusation, gives both of you a chance to understand and mend.
- Work & purpose
- A setback or a painful piece of feedback stings. Let yourself feel it, then look for the part that can teach you something.
- A prompt for you
- Let yourself grieve, and let someone keep you company.
